SHANGHAI FORTRESS
Adapted from the classic novel by Jiang Nan, the logo and title concepts were led by the story’s ‘last line of defence against an alien invasion’ theme. Hinting at what’s to come, we use inspiration from key elements in the story. Starting with the shield that protects Shanghai, we move through the various threats to humanity, from the alien Annihilators and Mother Ship and eventually to the Holy Vine Crystals, the source of the conflict.
The brief was to produce a look which felt appropriate to the futuristic military and impending alien invasion style setting.
I had the pleasure of crafting on-screen graphics for numerous screens and shots, blending both 2D graphics with 3D holographic renders from Cinema 4D. For some screens, we seamlessly integrated Adobe Illustrator icon designs into Cinema 4D, utili]sing them as holograms.ad the pleasure of crafting on-screen graphics for numerous screens and shots, blending both 2D graphics with 3D holographic renders from Cinema 4D. The screen graphics were designed to seamlessly blend futuristic sophisticated technology with an idealised representation of alien tech.
